O nome do arquivo \u00e9 1-2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On February 12 and 13, WFP Brazil &#8211; Centre of Excellence against Hunger participated in a technical meeting and contract signing ceremony for the purchase of cotton from the 2020 harvest from families assisted by the NGO Diaconia, in Recife. The Diaconia project, which includes seven territories of the Northeastern Semi-Arid region, is one of the best practices projects selected by the partnership between WFP Brazil and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) for trilateral South-South cooperation with African countries.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day of the event, WFP Brazil observed planning activities with local producers. On the occasion, they evaluated the 2019 harvest and prepared the work structure for the 2020 harvest. For WFP Brazil, talking part in this phase of the project was important to understand the dynamics of production and sale of cotton and other products in consortium. This information will help to structure the work agenda for good practices, which will serve as inspiration for other countries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/centrodeexcelencia.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/2-1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"O atributo alt desta imagem est\u00e1 vazio. O nome do arquivo \u00e9 2-1-1024x682.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the second day of the event, WFP Brazil presented the Beyond Cotton cooperation project and participated in the signing of the cotton sale contract with partners. There was also a technical meeting to define the 2020 work plan, which includes, among other actions, the dissemination of good practices observed in the region to countries in Africa and training of local actors.<\/p>\n<p>Albaneide Peixinho, Coordinator of the Beyond Cotton Project at WFP Brazil, said that the expectation is to start spreading Brazilian experiences already in 2020. \u201cThe good practices that we observed in the Northeastern semi-arid region, together with experiences in the north of Minas Gerais with farmers in conventional sustainable cotton cultivation, will form the base for South-South cooperation in Africa, showing the opportunities that can arise from the sustainable cultivation of cotton in a family farming model \u201d, said Albaneide.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/centrodeexcelencia.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/1-3-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"O atributo alt desta imagem est\u00e1 vazio.
