The Caritas and Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Amaz\u00f4nia Sustent\u00e1vel (FAS) NGOs received food donations from the private sector to help people in need during the Covid-19 pandemic. The deliveries took place in the first week of July and are part of fundraising campaigns supported by the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger Brazil. The Centre has been coordinating efforts by third sector organizations and private entities to increase the reach of donation campaigns so they can reach more families affected by the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The C\u00e1ritas regional office in the northeast of Brazil received 900 kg of rice and beans donated by Camil as part of a fundraising campaign carried out in partnership with children entertainers Patati Patat\u00e1. This delivery benefited three institutions that serve vulnerable populations in the northeast. Part of the donations was sent to Armaz\u00e9m do Campo, which offers daily meals to the homeless in Recife, in the state of Pernambuco. Some of the food was also distributed to Convento da Gl\u00f3ria, also in Recife, which supports homeless and indigenous people from Venezuela. Finally, Servi\u00e7o Pastoral do Migrante also received some of the rice and beans. The organization is located in Jacum\u00e3, in the state of Para\u00edba, and works with migrants and refugees.<\/p>\n

2.5 tons of coffee and 3 tons of corn flower will compose food baskets that will be distributed in Mau\u00e9s and Borba, in Amazonas<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Amaz\u00f4nia Sustent\u00e1vel Foundation (FAS) received 2.5 tons of coffee and 3 tons of corn flower donated by 3 Cora\u00e7\u00f5es, as part of the Compra Solid\u00e1ria campaign<\/a>, launched by the Carrefour Brasil Group. The items will be used to compose food baskets that will be delivered next week to communities in the state of Amazonas. At the Canum\u00e3 conservation unit, located in the municipality of Borba, 400 families will receive donations, while another 800 families will receive donations at the Florest Mau\u00e9s unit in Mau\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Other scheduled deliveries<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the next few weeks, C\u00e1ritas, FAS, A\u00e7\u00e3o da Cidadania and Diaconia will deliver 6,000 food cards worth R$ 100 each, donated by Carrefour\u2019s Compra Solid\u00e1ria campaign. This lot will benefit 50,000 families in 12 Brazilian states.<\/p>\n
