During two days, international authorities and over 10 ministers of states exchanged experiences at the International Conference on South-South and Triangular Cooperation: Leveraging innovations from the Global South to support rural transformation. The conference took place in Brasilia, organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).<\/p>\n
On 20-21 November, over 300 representatives from governments, international organizations, academia, research institutions, private sector, NGOs and civil society participated in the event. The WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger was also in attendance. The event was an opportunity to identify and discuss innovative South-South cooperation solutions related to agriculture and rural development, as well as to explore partnerships and cooperation opportunities among countries of the Global South.<\/p>\n
Participants of the conference approved a declaration and action agenda that calls for southern countries to significantly increase their technical cooperation and mutual assistance initiatives on sustainable development, inclusive rural transformation, and rural development. The action agenda also recommends countries to improve innovation exchange, to boost the investment into agriculture, and to establish multifaceted partnerships.
