On World Sustainability Day, 17 June, the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil is highlighting the importance of sustainable food systems, one of the focuses of the InovaSAN Project, which will be officially launched at a webinar on 26 June. Among the project’s actions is the creation of a laboratory to support public policies in the Global South, with a focus on food security and nutritional, food systems, urban and peri-urban agriculture and climate change.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The InovaSAN Project (a name that combines the words Innovation and Food and Nutrition Security) is an initiative of the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight against Hunger (MDS), the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) and the WFP Centre of Excellence. The event will be broadcast online and will feature presentations on the thematic axes and the role of innovation in tackling structural challenges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For Thaynara Dias, an officer assigned to develop the project by the Centre ofExcellence, InovaSAN is an opportunity to promote sustainable and inclusive solutions in food systems. “Creating sustainable food systems starts with conscious choices. When we understand the chain of food production, consumption and disposal, we realize that each person has an essential role to play in building a fairer and more balanced future,” she says.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The InovaSAN Project aims to connect experts, governments and communities in search of innovative solutions that support the development of integrated and climate-sensitive public policies with a real impact on the quality of life of the most vulnerable populations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
