Registration remains open for the seminar “Food Systems and Climate: Towards a Just and Sustainable Transition”, organised by the Josué de Castro Chair in Healthy and Sustainable Food Systems at the University of São Paulo (USP), as part of the inovaSAN project.
The project is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Combating Hunger (MDS), the United Nations World Food Programme’s (WFP) Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC).
The event is free of charge and will take place on 24 August 2026, from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm, in a hybrid format, with in-person activities in Brasília and an online broadcast via the Centre of Excellence’s YouTube channel.
The programme will feature leading experts in the field, including Arilson Favareto, full professor of the Josué de Castro Chair and lecturer at the University of São Paulo (USP); Inês Rugani, coordinator of the Centre for Food and Nutrition in Public Policy at the State University of Rio de Janeiro; Aline Martins de Carvalho, a lecturer at the Faculty of Public Health, USP, and coordinator of Sustentarea; and economist Ricardo Abramovay, coordinator of the research network ‘Overcoming the Triple Monotony of the Agri-Food System’, affiliated with the National Institute of Science and Technology.
The round-table discussions will also feature experts from the Brazilian government, international organisations and institutions in Brazil and other countries in the region. The closing session will be devoted to presenting the structure of the courses to be offered by the Josué de Castro Chair as part of the inovaSAN Project’s capacity-building activities.
The seminar will provide interpretation into Spanish and English. Places are limited, and registration must be completed via the QR code available in the official promotional materials published on WFP Brazil’s social media profiles.
