The World Food Programme (WFP) Centre of Excellence Against Hunger in Brazil participated in the Pact Against Hunger Awards ceremony in São Paulo on 4 November, supporting the selection process for the winning initiatives.
During the event, Director Daniel Balaban highlighted the importance of strengthening local initiatives and expanding coordination between sectors to accelerate sustainable solutions in the fight against hunger.
“This award represents more than recognition: it is a stimulus for collective action to guarantee the human right to food and to ensure that good Brazilian initiatives are strengthened and replicated. Hunger cannot be combated in isolation; it requires commitment, continuity and collaboration,” he said.
The Pact Against Hunger Award recognises initiatives that promote food security and the reduction or reversal of food waste throughout Brazil.
