The Head of Programme of the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger Brazil, Sharon de Freitas, taught a virtual class to students in the International Cooperation and Development module of the International Relations course at Universidad Nur, located in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, on 18th June. In her presentation, Sharon spoke about the work of the WFP across the world, and about the work of the Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil. She addressed the main activities carried out by the Centre since its creation in 2011, and presented the new initiatives, such as the Remote Support methodology for the continuation of South-South cooperation work with countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
WFP’s participation was part of a series of lectures organized by the institution with professionals working with international cooperation for development. A total of six professionals from international organizations, NGOs and the private sector participated in the initiative. The cycle of lectures offers students an opportunity to learn more about the practice of international cooperation and the practical meaning of development through the sharing of information and professional experiences. The series also allows students to learn about everyday life and the possibilities of professional performance as future internationalists.
