The president of the Brazilian National Food Supply Company (Conab), Guilherme Ribeiro, and the director of the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger Brazil, Daniel Balaban, signed this Wednesday, 10 November, a new memorandum of understanding, valid for three years, for the exchange of technical experiences to help the fight against hunger through food and nutrition security actions.
The partnership aims to support the governments of countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America in the development of sustainable solutions against hunger, acting as a global forum for policy dialogue and learning on school feeding, nutrition and activities related to food security. Conab’s participation takes place after the positive results of the partnership over previous years.
According to the document, Conab will assist with welcoming foreign delegations invited by WFP to learn about the food and nutrition security programmes operated by the Conab, which is wildly recognized as an important enabler of Brazilian nutrition policies. It should also contribute to the exchange of experiences and information related to these actions, enabling the transfer of technical knowledge to other countries.
For Daniel Balaban, Director of the WFP Centre of Excellence, the renewal of the agreement opens up new possibilities for cooperation and support to other countries. “It is with great satisfaction that we reaffirm our commitment to building lasting solutions to fight hunger and promote adequate and healthy eating. In this sense, Conab is an important partner for sharing good Brazilian practices with countries interested in improving their food systems”, he said.
