The geopolitical agenda of the G20 and the challenges of overcoming inequality and hunger in the world through international cooperation were the topics that Daniel Balaban, Director of the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil, discussed with undergraduate students in International Relations and Social and Consumer Sciences at the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM), in São Paulo, on October 14.
At the invitation of Manoel Guedes, professor of the subject Democracy and Authoritarianism, Daniel spoke about the impact of hunger and the issue of inequality. “With inequality, democracies will not be complete. That’s why hunger has a direct impact on global development,” said Manoel Guedes.
He said that Daniel brought a lot of information to the course about the articulation in the G20 for the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty. “It’s a very important current issue for us to follow, and everything that was presented generated a lot of interest and questions from the students, who left inspired to learn more about international cooperation and the global challenges to tackle the problem of hunger”, he stated.
