The Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) Centre of Excellence against Hunger Brazil, Daniel Balaban, paid a courtesy visit to the new President of the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE), Fernanda Macedo Pacobahyba. The meeting discussed the achievements of Brazil’s partnership with WFP over the past 12 years, as well as the challenges and opportunities for the year of 2023.
The global agenda on school feeding is rapidly advancing and Brazil is one of the main references on the subject. The Centre of Excellence against Hunger and the FNDE reaffirmed their efforts in promoting healthy food in schools as a way to fight hunger, guarantee education and strengthen family farming.
Fernanda Pacobahyba was appointed as the new president of FNDE on 2 January this year and will have as priorities basic education and full-time teaching, as well as the readjustment of the values of the National School Meals Programme (PNAE).
