The Ministry of Health, through the General Coordination of Food and Nutrition of the Department of Health Promotion, in partnership with the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger Brazil and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), promotes an online event on “Childhood obesity and the opportunities of Healthy Cities in offering an environment that promotes health, healthy eating and physical activity”, as part of the Child Morbid Obesity Awareness Day (June 3rd). The live event will take place on Wednesday, June 2nd, from 5pm to 6.30pm (Brasília time) and aims to promote a public debate on the topic and mobilize local government officials to engage in opportunities for the prevention of childhood obesity in Brazil in the context of healthy cities.
During the event, representatives of the Ministry of Health, UERJ and the National Confederation of Municipalities (CMN) will present some solutions linked to the theme. In addition, the event also marks the pre-launch of the publication “Childhood Obesity: Strategies for Prevention and Care (at the local level)”. The publication is part of Nurture the Future project, a partnership between the Ministry of Health, the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
