Year in Review WFP Brazil 2019

2019 was a period of great achievements for WFP Brazil. Here’s a summary of our work.

The year began with a change in the scope of the work of EFP Brazil Centre of Excellence against. A new structure has been designed, with the team’s primary focus turning to the Virtual Exchanges programme, developing technical publications, producing videos, building capacity, and assisting with the development of school feeding and food security policies.

A new product taxonomy was developed, dividing WFP Brazil’s operations into four categories: Technical and Advisory Services, Partnership Promotion, Advocacy Services and Knowledge Services. Throughout the year, the programme team delivered five workshops and three webinars. In addition, 15 technical documents were reviewed, including school feeding public policy programmes, pilot projects and implementation strategies.

Ten countries received technical visits, which contributed to the design of new school feeding programmes, strategies for the transition of school feeding programmes from WFP to local governments, support to Country Strategic Plans (CSPs), and assistance in funding projects. A delegation from Uganda was also welcomed at WFP Brazil headquarters in Brasilia. The Centre of Excellence team presented the Brazilian school feeding model to the Ministers and Directors of the African country. Visitors also attended lectures, workshops and made visits to family farmers and schools.

2019 was a year of intense production for the team: more than 40 publications were developed, including a series of Policy Briefs and the new Good Practices series; three technical events organized; and 14 panel discussions at partner events.

In 2020, WFP Brazil maintains its commitment to combat malnutrition and hunger by promoting food and nutrition security solutions and providing long-term developmental benefits to children and vulnerable populations in the Global South through South-South and Triangular Cooperation, Capacity Building and Participatory and Sustainable Development.
