Manual for the Application of the Acceptability Tests in the National School Feeding Programme (PNAE)

The PNAE and the CECANEs of the University of Brasília (UnB) and Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) developed this manual with the goal of explaining the procedures in a practical way to apply acceptability tests in the school environment, in order to ensure compliance with Resolution CD / FNDE No. 26/20132, strengthening the quality control of foods offered in school meals. In 2017, the manual was revised and updated by the UFRGS CECANE, due to a need of adapting the document to current legislation.

Reference Guide for School Feeding for Students with Special Dietary Needs

This Reference Guide and its attachments provide dietary orientations to primarily support the elaboration of special menus for the National School Feeding Programme (PNAE) and they do not aim to replace the assistance and prescriptions of doctors, nutritionists and other health
professionals. This Guide is based on clinical protocols and therapeutic guidelines (PCDT), national agreements and guidelines, as well as on applicable legislation. This Guide can be adapted depending on the district, state or municipality clinical protocols and therapeutic guidelines (PCDT) or based upon the decisions of a local responsible for school nutrition.

Annual Report

WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil

The WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger launched its 2018 annual report. The document highlights the impacts of the activities in partner countries. Throughout the year, the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger has made concrete contributions to strengthening school feeding programmes in 17 countries, benefiting around 4 million children and thousands of smallholder farmers.

Seizing the potential of South-South Cooperation: using knowledge exchange to achieve food and nutritional security

This article analyzes the World Food Programme Centre of Excellence against Hunger Brazil (WFP CoE’s) trajectory in providing technical assistance and facilitating policy dialogue between Global South countries, further contributing to three knowledge-related recommendations of the Buenos Aires Plan of Action: 24, 25 and 32. To this end, the article used the CoE’s partnership with the African Union as a showcase of the alignment with these three recommendations.

Sustainable School Feeding Across the African Union

This report has a compilation of results from School Feeding projects, programmes and initiatives in African Union member states. The document also analyses data and presents a conceptual overview of Sustainable School Feeding which operates through different approaches.  In addition, it presents 20 case studies from selected African Union members. This report was created in partnership with the WFP Liaison Office to the African Union and the Economic Policy Research Institute (EPRI).
