A ceremony at the Lebanese Ministry of Health, on July 9, marked the delivery of medical and hospital supplies to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. The items were acquired thanks to a humanitarian donation made by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). The Brazilian donation was made through the WFP Centre of Excellence Against Hunger in Brasília, which executed the transfer of funds to the WFP Office in Beirut.
The Lebanese government used the money donated for the purchase of N95 protective masks and surgical masks, disposable and waterproof aprons, safety glasses, gloves, facial shields and disposable shoe covers, as well as testing kits and ventilators. The Lebanese Minister of Health, Hamad Hassam, thanked Brazil for its donation to the Lebanese people in the face of the crisis that the country is going through.
