Brazil supports El Salvador in the fight against COVID-19

The donation of materials was supported by the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger

The Government of Brazil donated medical and hospital supplies, in addition to cleaning and personal hygiene products to the Government of El Salvador to be used in the context of the national emergency caused by COVID-19. Around 8,000 disposable medical uniforms, requested by the Salvadoran Ministry of Health, were donated to Hospital El Salvador, built to meet the new demands generated by the new coronavirus. Cleaning and personal hygiene materials were also donated to the Directorate-General of Criminal Centres in El Salvador for use by national and foreign inmates currently held in the Salvadoran prison system.

The delivery of those donations took place during a ceremony held on July 17th. The Brazilian donation was supported by the WFP Centre of Excellence Against Hunger in Brasília. On the Salvadoran side, the El Salvador Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO) was responsible for mediating the request for those humanitarian donations.
