The WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil attended the Southeast Regional Seminar: Food Grade 10, which brought together school cooks, nutritionists and authorities from the region. The seminar was held in São Paulo on 14 and 15 August and was promoted by the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE).
Nutritionist Sineide Neres participated in the event representing the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil and highlighted the importance of valuing school cooks and nutritionists who prepare school meals.
“Regional meetings are essential for the exchange of experiences and recognition of the fundamental work of school food professionals. Meetings like this also encourage the appreciation of regional food culture, one of the elements taken into account when school menus are created,” she said.
This was the third Regional Seminar for nutritionists and school cooks. The first was in the Midwest region, in Brasília (DF), and the second in the Northeast region, in Campina Grande (PB).
The Regional Seminar is part of the School Food Grade A Project, promoted by FNDE in partnership with Itaipu Binacional, IFSULDEMINAS and the Fadema Foundation.
