Brazil donated protective masks to Sierra Leone to support the country’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The country’s Ministry of Health received from the Brazilian government more than 17,000 reusable fabric masks produced locally by Sierra Leonean women, in addition to 80,000 disposable masks.
The Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), funded and coordinated the donation, which was carried out by the Embassy of Brazil in Accra, with the support of the World Food Programme (WFP). Symbolic ceremonies marked the delivery of the material, which took place between December 2020 and January this year.
