On 23 January, singer João Gomes visited the office of the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil. On that occasion, he was appointed ambassador of the Instituto Fome de Tudo.
During the visit, he said that as a child he attended public school and is very sensitive to the cause of education. “School is the place that most protects children, in contact with their teachers and friends. I thank God for having attended such good schools,” he said.
“I am very happy to be here with you. May children find in school the brightness and charm of learning.” He also said that he would very much like to have a music and luthier (musical instrument maker) school to train ‘music ninjas.’
During the visit, João Gomes met with the director of the Centre of Excellence, Daniel Balaban, to learn about the work of the WFP in Brazil, as well as with Úrsula Corona, president of the Fome de Tudo Institute.
The event celebrated the signing of the document that appointed João Gomes as ambassador of the Fome de Tudo Institute. He was also awarded a plaque from Fome de Tudo in his honour.
