On 11 June, the Laboratory for Innovation in Public Policy for Healthy and Sustainable Food Systems (alimentaLAB) launched a new call for proposals inviting applications for innovative initiatives aimed at food and nutritional security, with a particular focus on the challenges posed by climate change. The call invites governments and civil society organisations from countries in the Global South to submit initiatives that contribute to fairer, healthier and more resilient food systems.
Created as part of the InovaSAN project, the platform brings together best practices and transformative solutions, functioning as a digital repository of policies and initiatives that can be replicated and adapted in different contexts.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Combating Hunger (MDS), the World Food Programme’s (WFP) Centre of Excellence against Hunger, the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ABC/MRE), ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
New Features
Among the new features of the latest call for proposals is a greater focus on international engagement and opportunities for visibility for the selected initiatives. Participants will be able to take part in events in Brazil and abroad, attend webinars, share their experiences through case studies, and have their initiatives featured in publications showcasing inspiring practices.
