Applications are still open on alimentaLAB for food security initiatives

Governments and civil society organisations from countries in the Global South can still submit innovative initiatives focused on food and nutritional security under the new call for proposals from the Laboratory for Innovation in Public Policy for Healthy and Sustainable Food Systems (alimentaLAB), available on the alimentaLAB.prosas.com.br platform.

The call, which opened on 11 June, aims to identify and raise the profile of initiatives that contribute to making food systems fairer, healthier and more resilient, particularly in the face of the challenges posed by climate change.

Created as part of the InovaSAN project, the alimentaLAB platform functions as a digital repository of good practices and transformative solutions, bringing together public policies and initiatives that can be shared, adapted and replicated in different contexts around the world.

Among the new features of this edition is the strengthening of the international reach of the selected initiatives. Participants will have the opportunity to present their experiences at national and international events, take part in webinars, contribute to case studies and be featured in specialist publications highlighting inspiring practices for promoting food and nutritional security.

The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and the Fight against Hunger (MDS), the WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil, the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ABC), ICLEI South America, the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).
