Module 1
Unit 2
Slide 5 of 7

With the information presented, added to your previous knowledge about the PNAE, we believe you may realize that the Programme is a State public policy that seeks to develop educational actions that promote health and the formation of healthy food habits and practices in local and school communities. This makes the Programme an adequate space:

  • to develop activities that promote health, knowledge and learning at schools;
  • that can contribute to dialogues about factors that influence daily food habits with local and school communities, enabling the adoption of healthy food practices to those involved.
Participation of Smallholder farming in school feeding.

President of an association in a Quilombola community in the outskirts of Cidade Ocidental talks about the incentive to the community´s smallholder farming, with the provision of agricultural production for local school feeding.

To the municipalities, it means support to local development and fast purchase of goods for school feeding. This happens because the acquisition of agricultural goods for the PNAE can be done without a bidding procedure (civil service exam) according to terms of paragraph 1, article 14 of law 11,947/2009, as long as the prices are compatible with the local market, observing the principles in Article 37 of the Federal Constitution, and that foods attend to the demands of quality control established by norms that rule the matter.

Participation of Smallholder farming in school feeding.

President of an association in a Quilombola community in the outskirts of Cidade Ocidental talks about the benefits and expansion of smallholder farming when selling agricultural production for the PAA, and the municipality´s need to purchase this production also by the PNAE (in accordance with the Programme legislation) to enhance the community´s school feeding and have a bigger incentive to local smallholder farming.
