Summary of Module 1
To conclude this module, we highlight the presented contents by calling your attention to the following things:
- In the context of Brazilian public policies, the PNAE is considered the oldest and a reference between Food and Nutrition Security policies;
- With the inclusion of smallholder farming to the scope of the PNAE, the Programme significantly strengthens its action as a promoter of Food and Nutrition Security, as apart from ensuring service to students´ nutrition needs and contributing to the promotion of healthy eating habits, it also supports sustainable local development by means of the inclusion of goods produced by smallholder farmers for school feeding.
In the next module, we´ll further detail the main legislation points mentioned in the previous topic, which hold the procedures for the acquisition of goods from smallholder farming to the PNAE.
